The softer more feminine side of braids showed up on and off the runways at New York Fashion Week
this Fall. What can we learn from these crowns of tousled and textured braids, ponytails and
fishtails? More is better (more hair that is) and texture is key.
CREATING LOOSE BOHO BRAIDS AND FISHTAILS:
-Work with dry hair
-Wait a day or two after washing (freshly washed hair is harder to braid)
-Add volume close to head by curling hair, using Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion, or backcombing and spraying with Aveda Air Control
-Finger comb to section hair and maintain the volume
-Once sectioned, use Aveda Control Paste or Texture Tonic to add grip and smooth fly-away hairs
-Once hair is braided or fishtailed, start at the top and gently pull sections out while holding the bottom elastic tight. The chunky look this creates, will give hair instant texture and interest. Loose wispies pulled out and curled around the face will frame and soften the finished look.
