In 2003, it was unheard of in the salon industry to offer Designers 401(k) plans, paid vacation, health benefits and compensation programs that combine hourly wages and incentives. The idea behind this hybrid compensation plan was to protect designers when guests no showed, and to encourage teamwork in salons during downtime. To this day, Mango is committed to creating a team environment with professional benefits, where every team member is equally important and valued. As Mango Designers achieve productivity and hourly service sales goals, the company rewards them with higher hourly wages and commissions. In some cases, this happens multiple times per year for Designers.
Why We Have So Many Designer Levels?
Associates, Junior Partners and Partners have different levels of experience and expertise in law firms and other service-based businesses and their pricing reflects this variation. Hair Designers at Mango have a similar system of advancement. Levels 5, 6, and 7 are considered Master Level Designers who have many years of experience, a track record of retaining regular clientele and mastery of advanced technical skills. The levels provide them with an opportunity to continue growing as they reach new milestones. On the flip side we have Fresh Talent who are newly licensed and continuing to take weekly classes to hone their more basic skills, while also working with our guests a few days a week.
What Does a Career in Guest Support mean at Mango?
Guest Services, Reservation Center, Leaders, Managers all work together to deliver amazing service to guests—from booking appointments, to greeting and managing guests’ experience in salons. Training programs, weekly and monthly meetings and quarterly check-ins provide opportunities to advance into different leadership roles and to grow financially.
